Navigating the College Process The "in's and out's" of finding the right college for you
Description:
The last two years of high school are very stressful for students. The idea of taking the SATs and/or ACTs, applying to college, and choosing a major can be terrifying, especially if you don't know where to begin. Each student will be able to explore a different aspect of the college process (financial, academic, or application) by examining different resources. After, the students will be given time to educate their panel. This activity is a precursor for the unit: The Game of Life in which students are given the objective to write, revise, and publish a financial guidebook/brochure for young adults (age 18-25) that will prepare them for “the game of life.”

RH.11-12.7: Integrate and evaluate multiple sources of information presented in diverse formats and media in order to address a question or solve a problem.
WHST.11-12.2: Write informative/explanatory texts, including the narration of historical events, scientific procedures, or technical processes.
WHST.11-12.4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.

College isn't for everyone but you shouldn't sit around, but that doesn't mean you should do nothing after graduating high school. You took this idea and started giving lectures and presentations to high school seniors to show them that choosing to not attend college doesn't have to be negative.
