Van Trang wins women's Y Ty 42km: 'I run with my legs, not with people's mouths'

Van Trang, a 35-year-old mother of four from Hanoi known as Jang Doll, won the women's 42km race at the 2026 Y Ty Golden Season trail event on September 6. She finished in 4 hours 26 minutes and placed second overall, ahead of almost all male entrants. The course included more than 1,300m of climbing and reached the 2,860m Lao Than peak. She said she focused on breathing, pacing and timely refueling, adding that she builds her base with running, gym, swimming and auxiliary workouts. After finish-line photos circulated, she was mocked by some netizens for her natural chest size. She replied strongly: 'I dare anyone to run 42km or 55km carrying two grapefruits. I run with my legs, not my looks.' She said women in sport should be judged first on effort and results. She refused to wear looser clothes to avoid stares, explaining that sports apparel must be comfortable and safe. Her next targets are the VMM 70km and a 100km race.
